At Artory, we’ve embarked on a journey to bring back images of New Zealand’s past. We aim to uncover breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cities, highlighting the unique images of our history.
It all started when we wanted a unique art piece of Mount Maunganui beach as a gift for a family member. What we found was a captivating aerial shot looking up the coast across Omanu Beach towards Moturiki Island (Leisure Island) and the familiar sight of Mount Maunganui. What was striking was how different the landscape was in that era. Homes spread out with acres of land between them, non-existing roadways, absent of high-rise buildings. We still find ourselves getting lost in the details, imagining what it must have been like to live and holiday at a time like this.
Our aim is to create intrigue and evoke emotion through art, highlighting moments and images from a bygone era.
